"Art can only be erotic"

When art historican Jean Leymarie was preparing a talk for a symposium on art and sexuality, he asked his friend Picasso where he drew the line between these two concepts. The painter replied: "They are the same thing, because art can only be erotic."
This comment is taken from the book by Diana Widmaier Picasso with the same title as the heading for this blogpost.
The line between erotic art and pornography may be more difficult to draw, and may be the title of the work will be most important for the viewers opinion. Parts of the paintings may also be important for the "line", and looking at these two paintings "Yes, Yes, Yes!" and "Pretty Woman", perhaps the closed eyes, hands, legs, boots or body positions will be determinant.
For me the most important thing is to make paintings (acryllic on canvas) out of colours and expression.

Comments:
"art can only be erotic"!
Wakey-wakey! Pablo and HIS fellow MCPs (for all you illiterates; MCP="Male Chauvinist Pig") may have been great artists, but all those boys lived in masculine moral enclaves that hardly tried to explore other sides of human ideals.
"War is bad, sex is great, killing is dramatic but bull fighting is living the vida loca, hey hey" The latter is still regarded as a symbol of sex, and old fashioned, artists today consider Pablos thesis are universal truths.
Fortunately, everything changes, including fossil ideas of women as either madonnas or whores.
Men's obsession with the female body is hardly hot stuff. But why not take a look at what female artists are working with. As a Norwegian, Arne, check Harriet Backer

or take a closer look at this list:

Perhaps you'll discover artistist that find inspiration outside Pablos little den.

Personally, however, I think your acryllics are exciting and colorful, so keep up the good work!

Hope you found new inspiration
