Long time, no news, an update from Spain

Almost two months since last blogpost. No activity in painting studio, problems with internet connection and almost 3 weeks holiday and hospitalisation in Spain must take all the responsibility for the delay.
However, this painting was one of the positive experiences form the hospital Clinica Santa Elena at Los Alamos Andalucia. I found it at a wall in ground floor, liked it and if you visit the hospital, take a closer look.
At the same time I send greetings to dr. de Vega, and the nurses Maria and Desiree. I am well and back in Norway.

Imitation or a variation of the same motive

Sometimes you see a painting that you like more than other. My sister has had one at home for many years and I have always liked that work.

Therefore I decided last time I visited her home to study the painting, and make my version of the same motive as many other painters have used; the Fiddler. (See also Here and Here)

As I try to keep this blog updated with all my artworks and paintings, I this time have to reference to my Norwegian blog where I lately have presented two paintings and also a Photo-Slideshow with music. The photos taken show some of the sceneries around my home town: The Jugend city Ålesund.

From one through two to Triptychon

As expected the bedroom owner did not want nudes at the wall. That is the daily life, and a normal situation for an unknown painter. Some likes what you do and some does not. The end of the story is that I myself have had a nice time doing these paintings (the process is important), and if I was a famous painter they would probably be sold at acceptable prices.

So as a result these paintings are put together as a Triptychon and stored away, waiting for the situation many of the street art painters now encounter. Street art is not Taging or territorial graffiti, vandalism, or corporate art.Street art is copies of paintings made in an artist´s studios. Street Art Paintings sold (if at all) for a few dollars some years ago, now have a value of more than hundred thousand dollars.

Well it could at least be a dream.

Sitting nude - The Partner

In my last blogpost I presented a proposal for a bedroom "wallpaper". The painting was perhaps too small (74x50) for the wall planned, so I made a Partner for the Sitting nude.

Together these two paintings as a diptych will cover 74 x 105 cm of the wall.

Same colours as the background, and put together, they will cover a story not to be told in this blog but in the bed.

Hopefully the erotic undertone (?) may inspire for the right action.

Sitting nude

To follow up the previous mentioned Picasso attitude to erotic art, and include a desire to have a painting suitable in a Turquoise or Icewater blue bedroom, this Sitting nude has been done.

If the owner of the bedroom wants the painting, it is delivered within short. If not, it will be stored together with other painings made this summer.

In addition I have made an Ultrablue image of the island Godøy outside the city Ålesund at the north west of Norway. I have called the painting Winternight over Godøya and have presented it on my Norvegian Blog.

If you click at the "Godøy/arts and crafts" reference above you may also find my tailor of my national costume Elin Rørvik
She made the "Bunad" in 1998 and we used it as a recovery motivation after my combined heart/kidney transplantation that year. Out of bed, get fit and carry the costume when celebrating the 17th of may in front of the royal palace.

Autumn at Hellesylt

The Northwestern part of Norway is the most beautiful part of this country.
The fjords and valleys are some of the most spectacular sceneries of the world, and Geiranger is may be the most beautiful place in the world. Here you can also see paintings by Terje Fagermo.

From Geiranger you may take the ferry to Hellesylt and visit Norangsdalen.

This painting is made from a photo taken at Hellesylt, and meant to tell you that the autumn is coming closer every day.

"Art can only be erotic"

When art historican Jean Leymarie was preparing a talk for a symposium on art and sexuality, he asked his friend Picasso where he drew the line between these two concepts. The painter replied: "They are the same thing, because art can only be erotic."
This comment is taken from the book by Diana Widmaier Picasso with the same title as the heading for this blogpost.
The line between erotic art and pornography may be more difficult to draw, and may be the title of the work will be most important for the viewers opinion. Parts of the paintings may also be important for the "line", and looking at these two paintings "Yes, Yes, Yes!" and "Pretty Woman", perhaps the closed eyes, hands, legs, boots or body positions will be determinant.
For me the most important thing is to make paintings (acryllic on canvas) out of colours and expression.

New canvas ready and paperworks can rest.

Six new canvas have been made ready for new paintings, and my paperworks can take a break. This Picasso inspired painting (acryllic on paper) is used as a wallpaper at our "utedo" among pictures of royalyties from different countries. I just had to do something with my paintbrushes and ended up with this.

In my Norwegian blog I have told about a visit to Geiranger and Terje Fagermos (with daughters) exhibition there. The paintings below are also made by Terje, and can be seen at Geiranger Fjordsenter.

Abstinence - lack of canvas

Due to lack of canvas during the weekend, I had to make these paintings om paper.
However, based on previous experience this medium is still one of my favourite, and the result ("Meditation" above and "Afternoon at the cottage" below) is satisfaying the hunger for painting.

Thy will on earth be done, as done in Heaven

After seeing the exhibition "A modern classic" at the National Gallery by Olle Bærtling at the same time I made another abstract painting, I decided to do an imitation of one of O.B.´s works. I call the last painting "Heaven and Earth".
These two (or three) paintings now cover the walls at my Dining room at the cottage.
May be the walls have to be repainted too.
