Birthdays of Goya and van Gogh

When I made the painting of our cottage (see previous post) last summer and presented it in the Norwegian blog on 15th july 2005, I got positive responce from a.o. Portugal. The author of a culture covering website wrote about my works and compared "Tullarbo" with works by Vincent van Gogh. Today it is 153 years since van Gogh was born and his works have forever made their place in the history of art. See more of his works here:

  • Another great painter is Fransisco Goya.
    He was born on the same day for 260 years ago. I had the opportunity to see a lot of his works at the Prado Museum in Madrid in 2004. One of the paintings are the 266x345 cm oil on canvas The third of May, 1808 which for the first time (?) in art history focused on the victims and not the victors. A great experience and a recommendation for everyone to go to Madrid. In addition you have to see Picasso´s Guernica at at the Reina Sofía, Spain's national museum of modern art and most important take a visit through the painting history at Museo Madame Thyssen.
