Painting and/or Portrait
Is it possible to make a painting based upon some ideas of how to build up colours, forms and expression and at the same time make a "picture" of the model. Do we have to choose between imagination and copy, or can these two challenges be combined and thus give an acceptable result from the artists intention.
I am not sure and therefore I stop working on this painting now. Through photos of the model I see that it is not correct, but is it good, bad og just acceptable.
At a meeting friday evening the Norwegian painter Peter Esdaile told us how he was working with his latest paintings, and the most important was TO STOP. As I have written earlier you never finish a painting - you leave it.
